Aes collectaneus: fragments of legal documents on bronze from the forum of Baelo Claudia

In this paper a relevant ensemble of numerous tablet fragments on bronze is presented. It comes from the recent excavations carried out on the southeast corner of the forum of Baelo Claudia (Tarifa, Cádiz) throughout the archaeological campaigns of 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. Of very small dimensions and some of them anepigraphic, only a few conserve a scarce number of letters. Their morphological features suggest a very probable identification with legal documents; at least one of them seems to be part of a municipal law. The shape, technical aspects and archaeological context of the pieces complete the information provided by this interesting find, as the result of a discard process, or better, an adaptation for a future reuse at the end of 4th or along 5th centuries AD.
