Trying to apply the methodology of the historical analysis of the vocabulary, the author summarizes the data published to date about the Roman mints, the staff related to them and those of some of the operations that were made whithin them. Most sources are literally quoted and some mistakes are tried to undo. The author declares the impossibility of a fixation of the remained vocabulary because of the shortage of the sources and of the occurrences of terms in literary texts and inscriptions.
