El Pont del Diable. El monumento romano dentro de la política territorial augustea

Abstract

It's about the construction phase of the «Pont del Diable» (Martorell-Castellbisbal). At the end of the first century BC, and about the IV, VI and X Roman legions that built it as a part of Augustus' remodelling plan of the north of the Iberian Peninsula in 19 BC. The hinterland was widely affected by the reorganization, with the creation of the network of roads known as «Via Augusta». The foundation of new cities such as Caesaraugusta and Barcino and also the distribution of their respective territories that shows an obvious parallelism. The inscriptions on the bridge itself and on the river port area of Caesaraugusta are key elements given by epigraphy.
