Bibliometric study of Archivo Español de Arqueología in the context of Spanish journals of Archaeology collected by Scopus and ÍnDICEs-CSIC

This work aims to analyze the bibliometric data of the journal Archivo Español de Arqueología between 1925 and 2019. It is motivated by being in 2020 the 80th anniversary of the foundation, that arose as a spin-off from a previous title started in 1925. The article analyzes the current presence in documentary bases, the thematic evolution through different stages, the distribution of authorship and the impact through citations, from data that can be extracted from ÍnDICEs-CSIC and Scopus. Likewise, the bibliometric study is addressed in the context of the Spanish journals on Archaeology, through its comparison with other journals of the same subject, present in Scopus and published by public institutions. All these questions offer a quantitative approach to the evolution of Spanish archaeology, as well as its impact compared to other publications.
