Las villae romanas no son monasterios
Abstract
A review of the recently published on the mosaics of the late Roman villa of the site «La Malena» (Azuara. Zaragoza. Spain) (cfr. JRA. 5. 1992. 162-177 and ibid. 148-161). A radically different interpretation is proposed here, i.e., the villa is a roman villa and not a «pagan monastery» (as mantained in JRA). On the other hand, the mosaic-identify as the representation of Cadmo and Armonia, is probably the abstract personification of «The Mariage».
