Un skyphos de terra sigillata itálica procedente de Carteia

We present a ceramic skyphos produced in arretine workshops, found in Carteia (San Roque, Cádiz). Two twin scenes represent the musical contest between Apollo and Marsias; these images are accompanied by Bacchus and Silenus. The design also contains the syrinx, the personification of the god Pan, and closed pine cones upon striated capitals, related to the Dionisiac ritual. The name Cerdo Perenni, the famous craftsman of the first production phase in the arretine workshop of M. Perennius, can be read.
