Multpartite strap sets are found in Eastern and Central Europe (including ltaly), in the Byzantine empire, in Persia, Central Asia and China. In Europe they are dated from the end of the 6th to the beginning of the 8th century. In Asia, they were in use still in the last century, but in the lberian Península they were practically unknown until now. The find of a «vertical metal fitting» in the province of Toledo gives us reason to consider the problems of these belts in an other context than previously.
